New Single Release
Sharon Van Etten and The Attachment Theory have released their latest single, “Trouble” – listen below.
The atmospheric and understated track acts as the final preview of the band’s self-titled album, which is set to drop on February 7 via Jagjaguwar. Pre-order/save here.
Exploring Relationships
“The ‘problem’ comes from the idea of coexisting with people you love who have opposing views while being unable to share the deeper parts of yourself and your narrative due to someone else’s beliefs,” Van Etten elaborated.
“A significant part of you remains unknown to the person who loves you because it isn’t what they want to hear or understand. It’s a painful reality when you choose to prioritize another person’s needs over your own to preserve the relationship.”
“I don’t want to lose your love against your will/Blow you a kiss and take a pill/Kill/I don’t want to lose your love against your will/Blow you a kiss and take a pill/Kill/I don’t want to lose you” Van Etten delivers with ethereal vocals.
She layers her vocals over Devra Hoff’s infectious bass line, complemented by Tini Lieberson’s lush, moody synths.
The band also released a video featuring a live performance of “Trouble,” recorded at Church Studios in Crouch End, north London. Check out both versions here:
“Trouble” follows Sharon Van Etten and The Attachment Theory’s 2024 singles “Afterlife” and “Southern Life (What It Must Be Like).”
The band is slated to perform three headlining shows in the UK in March following a series of European dates. They will perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Royal Albert Hall in Manchester, and Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. Remaining tickets can be found here.
