Shakira Postpones Lima Concert Following Hospitalization for “Tummer Problem”

Shakira Postpones Lima Show

Shakira was obliged to delay her concert in Lima, Peru, on Sunday (February 16) due to hospitalization.

Health Concerns and Communication

The singer was scheduled to perform urban national music as part of her tour for “Las Mujeres”, which kicked off in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday (February 11).

However, on Sunday afternoon, she shared on social media that she was admitted to the ER on Saturday night for “abdominal problems,” noting that she was currently hospitalized.

“Doctors have informed me that I am not well enough to perform tonight,” she stated. “I am deeply saddened that I can’t take the stage today.”

“I was eagerly anticipating reuniting with my amazing fans here in Peru. I hope to be discharged tomorrow so I can speak.”

She concluded, “My team and promoters are already working on a new date to update you. Thank you all for your understanding. I love you all. Shak.”

Tour Updates and Album Success

This marks Shakira’s first tour in seven years, supporting her 2024 album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, for which she recently won the Best Latin Pop Album at the Grammy Awards. The tour features elaborate production and 160-inch screens, including a unique CGI animated version of the singer during interludes.

Her next scheduled performance is on Friday (February 21) in Barranquilla, Colombia, followed by shows in Medellín, Bogotá, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City, concluding on March 30.

Later this spring, she will head to North America for the next leg of her tour. In October, she had to postpone the initial dates to upgrade from arenas to stadiums due to high demand.

In a four-star review of the album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” NME noted: “With a career spanning four decades, she continues to push boundaries in Latin pop music, making the genre a global phenomenon. While previous albums featured at least one English song, she has chosen to sing entirely in Spanish this time. This vulnerable yet universal collection showcases that there are no limits to her artistic expression through music.”
