To celebrate the upcoming North American tour, the Sex Pistols have released a limited vinyl pressing of “Speech in 1978” at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas— the same venue where they’ll perform later this year. You can purchase it here.

The last time the Sex Pistols toured North America was in 2003, performing with their original singer, Johnny Rotten (John Lydon). In January, Lydon expressed his views on Frank Carter taking over as the new frontman.

Glen Matlock later noted that Carter was a fitting choice to be the new frontman, praising his energy compared to older band members. “He’s younger, for starters. He has much more energy than people of our age. He engages with the crowd; he’s a cool act,” he remarked.

“But is the world ready for a new Sex Pistols album? I don’t know. I appreciate John (Lydon’s) remarks in ’96 when asked about making new music during the band’s reforming tour—his response was, ‘Why?’”

Earlier this year, guitarist Steve Jones also spoke to NME regarding the band’s performance at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust, admitting he was surprised at the lack of negative feedback after introducing a new singer.

“You think you’ll get backlash against this (without Lydon), but I was surprised. There was no adverse reaction,” he commented. “There were some dissenters on Instagram, but they hadn’t even seen us. They just couldn’t picture it without John, which I understand, but even those who attended out of curiosity were engaged after a couple of songs.”

In related news, Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols recently delivered an electrifying performance at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall to support Teen Cancer America.
