Seulgi of Red Velvet Unveils New Solo Single “A Child, Not a Child”

The red velvet singer Seulgi returned with her solo second mini-album “Accidentally On Purpose,” featuring the lead single “Baby, Not The Child.”

Record and video were released on March 10 through SM Entertainment. “Baby, Not The Child” was produced by Grammy winner Eric Serna, recognized for his work on Olivia Rodrigo’s popular album “GUTS” in 2024. The song also includes contributions from long-standing SM Entertainment producer Kenzie with the lyrics.

In the music video for “Baby, Not The Child,” Seulgi portrays a star of the television show Campy 2000s, navigating public incidents that lead her to become a social exile.

“Accidentally On Purpose” is the long-awaited follow-up to her debut solo mini-album “28,” which was released in 2022. NME Rian Daily awarded “28” a luminous five-star review, stating, “Seulgi has long proven herself as an intoxicating and masterful performer in Red Velvet, and now she is ready to harness this experience for her shining moment.”

Upcoming Collaborations

Following the release of “Accidentally,” Seulgi is expected to reunite with her groupmate Irene as part of their unit. SM Entertainment has recently disclosed in a separate report that she and Irene will return with a new mini-album together, marking their first collaboration in five years since “Monster.”
