The new track was released today (March 25) and marks the third single from the upcoming album Selfeem: ‘A Sedicated Woman.’ This follows the release of the lead single “Focus Is Power” and the sultry track “69.”
Reflecting on Personal Growth
The latest preview of the album reveals how Taylor reflects on her rise to fame, along with moments of hypersexuality, drinking, and self-destruction that have shaped her experiences and contributed to the person she is today.
“You are wondering who it was, who made a choice in this city/ because it was just you/ you – the sum of all these chances/, and we can work together to become those who are in your heart,” she sings in an optimistic verse that builds to a joyful chorus.
“If not now, then this is soon/ and all that suits you/ we will direct you through/ will return it to the beginning.”
Discussing the inspiration behind the song, Taylor stated, “Personally, you need to wait, and one day you will find yourself somewhere less painful. But I hope the world will also find a place that is less painful. We are talking about hope, perseverance, and patience!”

Taylor declared herself a “complex woman” on social media back in January, announcing the album’s release on April 25 through Polydor.
The album focuses on reclaiming control over one’s life while addressing the burdens and extra labor women often have to shoulder. It will also feature MoonChild Sanelly, Nadine Shah, and Life Without Buildings’ Sue Tompkins.
This album serves as a follow-up to the singer’s 2021 Brit and Mercury Prize-nominated album “Prioritise Pleasure.”
For this album, Self-Esteem was featured on the cover of NME and discussed the inspiration for the tracks. “I have undergone years of therapy, done a lot of work, and read every book available, leading me back to true self-acceptance and love for myself,” she shared.
“This is the answer to everything, but it is still something one should not overlook. I walk a long road, and it can be very challenging. But then I remind myself to stay within my small part of the world, my community, accept myself, and love myself, then create my little silly songs and dances. If anyone learns from this journey and can get through it, then at least I am achieving something,” she concluded.
