Selena Gomez Releases Unreleased Track
Selena Gomez recently shared a long-awaited track from 2016 titled “Painted,” giving fans something to celebrate.
Details About the Track and Its Release
Back in 2016, following the launch of her solo album “Revival,” Selena Gomez teased a snippet of the song “Strained” for her fans. Produced by Benny Blanco, who became romantically involved with the singer last year, the song never had an official release but eventually leaked online.
Since then, fans have eagerly anticipated a proper release. Over the weekend, Gomez took to social media to share that the track is now available exclusively on her official site. It can be purchased as a bonus track with her latest album “I Said I Love You First,” featuring Benny Blanco, for $5 as a digital download – Buy it here.
In her announcement, Gomez expressed her gratitude for her fans’ continued support: “Eight years later, and you guys never forgot about this song 🖤 Your love for it has never left, and I wanted to create something special to thank you for your love and support on the album.”
Along with “Painted” as a bonus track, Selena Gomez announced a new edition of her collaboration album with Benny Blanco, which was released last weekend (March 21). Titled “I Said That I Love You First – Explained: Tells Selena Gomez,” the album features Gomez sharing insights about the origin and creation of each song through accompanying tracks.
She commented on the “Explained” version: “Benny and I created so many amazing memories throughout the whole process of making our new album. I wanted to share some of these stories with you and the creation process of these songs.”
“I Said That I Love You First” chronicles the couple’s “love story” – they have collaborated on several of her hit tracks since “Same Old Love” in 2015. The couple confirmed their romantic relationship in December 2023, with Gomez confirming that she had been dating the producer for about six months; they announced their engagement in December 2024.
The new edition follows Gomez’s recognition of her colleagues – like actress Saoirse Ronan – as she mentioned, even though she feels “too old for the life of pop stars,” she will always have music in her life since her partner is a musician, and she enjoys creating moments for entertainment.
Previously, she expressed that she doesn’t want her musical career to fade away but prefers to focus on acting to maintain her “sanity,” allowing her to share stories of others rather than just her own through music.
In an earlier conversation with NME, promoting her latest film Emilia Perez with Zoe Saldana, she was asked about upcoming music since her last album “Rare” was released in 2020. When asked about a new album, Gomez replied, “Well, if I had one, I would like to talk about it. I think it’s nice to focus on this side of the creative field for now. We’ll see what happens.” – read NME for the complete conversation with Gomez and Saldana here.
