Sean Lennon Stuns Rachel Zegler: The “Spoiled, Ungrateful, and Disconnected Star” of “Snow White”

Sean Lennon’s Controversial Remarks

Sean Lennon criticized Snow White star Rachel Zegler, labeling her as “a spoiled, ungrateful and disconnected feature.”

Lennon, the son of Yoko Ono and the late Beatles icon John Lennon, recently took to X/Twitter to express that he “will agree (D) that Zegler has gone too far.”

However, the musician added, “But she also behaves as a spoiled, ungrateful and disconnected feature. So this is not surprising.” The post has since been deleted.

Zegler’s Political Backlash

This incident occurred after Zegler’s political views reportedly clashed with Disney’s interests, which allegedly hired a “social media guru” to monitor her posts during the press tour for the new live-action Snow White.

Following last year’s presidential election, Zegler made headlines for her outspoken comments against Donald Trump, which garnered backlash from conservative commentators, leading her to later apologize.

In addition, her remarks regarding Palestine also triggered a wave of criticism.

These controversies, along with negative feedback regarding the casting of the Latina actress, are believed to have contributed to the disappointing box office performance of Snow White. The film currently ranks on IMDB among the worst films in history.

In a separate post, Lennon previously referred to Zegler and her Snow White co-star Galo Gado as “exclusively beautiful women,” defending them against sexist comments about their appearance (through Independent).

Meanwhile, John Plat-Snight, the producer of Snow White, criticized Zegler for “dragging her personal politics into the promotion of the film,” which she signed a multimillion-dollar contract to promote. He stated that “the actor’s actions have clearly damaged the box office of the film,” emphasizing that “freedom of speech does not mean you can say anything without facing consequences in your professional life.”

Zegler first stirred controversy among conservative commentators in 2023 when she claimed that the new movie would be more feminist than the original 1937 film. “This is not 1937—there will be no prince saving her, and she isn’t just dreaming of true love,” she explained at that time. “She dreams of becoming a leader with her own agency.”

Amid the release of the film, she agreed to work with a social media specialist to vet her posts leading up to Snow White‘s launch earlier this month. The film has received poor reviews, currently holding a “rotten” score of 41 percent on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The critical consensus states: “Snow White is hardly a grumpy time in films, thanks to Rachel Zegler’s light stellar turn, but its lackluster handling of the source material and some poor stylistic choices may not sit well with everyone.”

Galo Gado, who plays the “Evil Queen” in the film, recently responded to negative reactions regarding her past comments on Israel. “When your compass is clean, your conscience is clear,” she said. “I know what I stand for, and I know what I want for the whole world.”

Gado served in the Israeli defense forces in the 2000s and has been an outspoken supporter of Israel amid the Hamas conflict. She was among the 700 Hollywood stars who signed an open letter supporting Israel following Hamas’s initial attacks.

In another instance, Pedro Pascal voiced his support for Zegler amid the controversy surrounding Snow White, referring to her as an “icon.”

Last summer, Sean Lennon called Prince Harry “an idiot,” quipping that his review of the prince’s autobiography Spare could be summed up in just two words.

In 2024, Lennon collaborated with Paul McCartney on a new song titled “Primrose Hill.” Later that year, he asserted that his mother “never moved on from her relationship with her late father.”
