Scorpions Postpone Las Vegas Residency to Allow Drummer Mickey D Time to Recover from Illness

Scorpions Postpones Residency

The Scorpions have announced they are postponing their upcoming 60th anniversary residency in Las Vegas to allow drummer Mickey D to recover from an illness.

Drummer’s Health Challenges

Earlier this year (January 2), drummer Mickey Dee, who also played in Motorhead until 2015 when the band split following the death of legendary Lemmy Kilmister, revealed that he had recently been hospitalized with sepsis, a serious and dangerous blood infection.

He said he underwent various surgeries, returned home, and was recovering but, at one point, came close to death. He discovered his condition after spraining his ankle and stated in December: “I immediately had an operation, the first of three. They cut out what was dead, infected, and heavily infested. It hasn’t been a good trip… One more day and I’ll be playing drums with Lemmy in heaven. I can say that.”

Over the weekend, the Scorpions, for whom Mickey has played drums since 2016, took to social media to confirm they would be delaying the start of their Las Vegas residency to allow Dee more time to recover.

The residency was originally set for February but will now commence in August. They wrote: “We regret to inform you that due to Mickey D’s ongoing recovery from his recent hospitalization, we have made the decision to postpone our return home to our Las Vegas residency until August 2025. Our brother’s health and well-being are of paramount importance. We wish Mickey a full and speedy recovery and look forward to speaking with you again soon!”
