Recent Album Release and Inspirations

Comments from Giordi Singer-Autor of Songs surfaced following the release of his highly anticipated third album “The People Who Watch” last Friday (February 21), which includes four of his previously released singles: “Remember My Name,” “The Length of the Arm,” “The Length of the Hand,” “Wild Long Lie,” and the album’s title track.

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Fender shared insights about the inspiration behind his songwriting and how his upbringing shaped his worldview.

One of the most captivating parts of the discussion arose when he revealed he already has a wealth of unrelated material and is already focused on a new release.

According to the article, Fender demonstrated to the interviewer that he possesses “dozens” of currently unheard demos on his phone, eager to share them. “Do you want to hear? This is what life gives me,” he remarked.

This article mentions that one of the tracks he played and sang during the interview is titled “Drugs,” while another is named “Hornsby,” inspired by the American singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby.

“I’m buzzing! I just sing on you!” he exclaimed, adding that he also “desperately needs” to make a complete punk recording soon. According to Time, Fender showcased a snippet of a song that bore resemblance to Tom Petty, featuring lyrics: “People will hate you, be you a saint, a sinner, a donor or Tucker/ but a big old heart is all that is standing/ and he said: ‘You have a big old heart, baby! Don’t let them own them.’

At the time of writing, details about upcoming materials from Sam Fender remain scarce, although he has previously indicated the prospect of more music in recent discussions.

In a recent interview with Apple Music 1 Zane Lowe Show, Giordi spoke about collaborating with “War on Drugs” producer Adam Granduciel, confirming he is already working on its follow-up.

“It all happened very quickly while working with Granduciel on ‘People Watching,’ and that’s always a good sign for me,” he shared. “I feel that if everything is moving fast, then it’s happening. As soon as it’s done, it feels like clearing a hard drive in your head.”

“Now I’m ready to do another one,” he continued. “I just want to get back in the studio, to be honest. I already have a lot of new songs.”

Regarding what fans can expect from his future projects, he told Lowe: “I currently have two avenues. I have a real batch of melodies that I haven’t quite built on. They should just be independent. The other side is a bit more trashy. So, I think about two records at the same time.

“Let’s see. But I would like to create a proper album (LP) because this is how I started. The band really came together only after I recorded my first type of single. Before that, I toured for a while. When I was 18, 19, 20 years old, for about three years, I was on my own with acoustics. That’s how I began. So yes, I would like to return to that.”

“Part of me really craves maybe a small solo tour just with acoustics, to see what it’s like,” he added.

“People Who Watching” has garnered a glowing four-star review from NME, which described it as “reflective and insightful indie showcases from the shining star of North Shields.”

“Feeling existential, torn, and disconnected from his working-class roots due to his rapid rise to fame, the British guitar hero channels it all into his magnificent third album,” the review noted.

Fender has added further dates to his upcoming UK stadium tour this summer, including Wythenshawe Park in Manchester, Edinburgh Summer Sessions, and the Boucher Road in Belfast. Visit here to buy tickets and view the full list of UK Tour Dates.

He is also nominated for two Brit Awards at next month’s ceremony: Artist of the Year and Alt/Rock Act, and has been announced as an official ambassador for Record Store Day UK 2025. The event will take place on April 12, during which Fender will release two new songs as part of a special EP for the celebrations.

Additionally, it was recently announced that Fender will headline at this year’s Formula 1 Grand Prix.
