Sam Fender Cancels Remaining 2024 Tour Dates Due to Vocal Cord Injury

Sam Fender cancels tour dates

Sam Fender has canceled the remaining dates of his 2024 tour due to a hemorrhage on his right vocal cord.

Announcement and health issues

The singer-songwriter made the announcement following the first of two scheduled shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro Arena on December 16, resulting in the rescheduling of the Glasgow and Newcastle shows.

“Glasgow and Newcastle, as many of you are aware, I’ve been unwell with the flu for a few days now. Despite my compromised voice, I did everything I could last night to get it in working order and deliver the best performance possible,” Fender explained. “Today, I had an ENT camera inserted down my throat, and unfortunately, I discovered a hemorrhage on my right vocal cord. I’m heartbroken. This has been the best tour so far, and all I want is to get up and sing for you all again tonight.”

“Two ENT doctors informed me that if I performed tonight, I risked serious damage to my voice. They advised me to keep my voice rested and not to use it until I fully heal,” he added. “During this tour, I followed all the instructions, living like a monk; it’s just so unfortunate. I’m incredibly sorry to all of you who are traveling tonight. We’re working on finding a way to reschedule, and there will be more updates soon.”

Tour details and future plans

The canceled dates were part of a UK and Ireland tour that started on December 2, with £1 from each ticket being donated to the Music Venue Trust to support grassroots venues.
