The highly anticipated seventh album from the singer, “MayHem,” was released today (March 7) after several months of speculation. This follows her 2020 album, Chromatica, and the Joker: Folie a Deux Companion Record, “Harlequin,” which was released last year.
Unusual Sound Catches Attention
While the singer recently broke standards with this LP, which distinguishes itself from her previous works, it seems that one particular song has drawn significant attention due to its unique sound.
This attention centers around the ninth track on the album, titled “How Bad Do You Want Me?” featuring an 80s-style synthesizer. The song has left fans divided, as the vocal melody and structure appear to nod to the work of fellow pop icon Taylor Swift.
Numerous listeners have noticed the similarities between this track and Swift’s style, with some convinced that the “Bad Blood” singer has a secret feature on the album.

Although there are no credits addressing this speculation, discussions have surfaced among fans wondering if it might be an Easter egg from Gaga.
“I am not a fan of TS but I love Lady Gaga. Honestly, I double-checked to see if she was involved in the song,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “Some of the background vocals are strikingly similar to TS, and the song feels like it could easily belong to her.”
“My theory is that Taylor secretly wrote ‘How Bad Do You Want Me?’ for Gaga,” another user speculated on Twitter/X. “The production? The vocal style? The lyrics? It screams 2014-2019 Taylor.”

You know that ‘How Bad Do You Want Me?’ has some Taylor Swift vibes, but perhaps Gaga did it specifically to show that basic pop music can be elevated. pic.twitter.com/2Duazaxgpu

It is worth noting that although the pop star is not mentioned in the credits of “MayHem,” it is not unusual for Swift to contribute to other artists’ albums without receiving public credit.
One notable example occurred with Calvin Harris’ hit “This Is What You Came For,” which Swift wrote under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg, later performing it alongside Rihanna.
Last year, they also moved in similar circles, with Swift defending Gaga amid pregnancy rumors, calling the speculations “invasive and irresponsible.”
“MayHem” received a four-star review from NME, describing it as an entry where the “Pop” icon “takes everything up to 11.”
“There’s a reckless confidence in how Gaga embraces her maximalist vision, without succumbing to modern pop conventions. Most of the chaos tracks hover around the four-minute mark, making them mini-epics in the age of TikTok,” the review noted.
“Ultimately, ‘MayHem’ emerges as a fantastic Gaga album, overflowing with fun. At times, it feels like reuniting with an old friend who makes sense even when they seem to be rambling,” it added. “Seventeen years after her breakthrough with ‘Just Dance’, Lady Gaga remains a key POP force in impeccably crafted chaos.”
In addition to the album’s release, Lady Gaga delighted her fans in Mexico by announcing her first performance in the country in 13 years. On April 26, the Pop Icon will take the stage at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, where she is expected to perform several songs from the “MayHem” album.
The news of this concert followed closely after the Paparazzi hitmaker revealed she would present a monumental free show for over a million fans on Copacabana Beach in Rio.
