Robin Chi Appointed Managing Director of Warner Music Hong Kong Following Gordon Lee’s 20-Year Tenure Resignation

Warner Music Hong Kong Appoints New Managing Director

Warner Music Hong Kong has swiftly appointed Robin Chi as its new managing director.

Gordon Lee, an industry veteran who has served as managing director since 2003, is set to retire after two decades in this role.

On Thursday (January 23), WMG announced that Lee leaves behind a “wonderful heritage that helped the company become a key player in the Asian music industry.”

Chi will report to Simon Robson, who oversees the recording sector of the Warner Music Group in the Asia-Pacific region, until a permanent successor is appointed.

During the transition, Lee will collaborate closely with Chi and will stay at Warner Music Hong Kong until the end of March to provide assistance.

Leadership and Achievements

Lee played a crucial role in establishing the Warner Music Hong Kong artists department and fostering the careers of various artists such as Janice, Halil Fontga, Paho, and more recently – Dear Jane, Kaho Hung, Mc Cheung Tin-Fu, and Panther Clan.

According to Warner, Lee’s tenure was marked by “not only creative achievements but also noticeable financial growth,” with the company reporting a 2.5 times income increase over the past five years.

Prior to his work with WMG, he spent four years as a creative director at Warner Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of WMG.

“I am grateful to everyone in Warner Music Group, especially my devoted team, whose support was invaluable.”
