On Friday, Telegraph reported that the Umbrella star might plan a six-day residency at the London stadium, with the first date set for July 4, just five days after Glastonbury concludes this year.

The residency has yet to be confirmed, with Telegraph stating that a “senior source from the concert industry” has indicated that the show is in advanced stages of planning, and an official announcement is anticipated in the coming weeks.

NME has reached out to Rihanna’s representatives for confirmation regarding these reports.

Previous Glastonbury connections

Glastonbury has only announced one headliner for the 2025 festival so far—Neil Young, who was confirmed in January—which makes the rumors all the more intriguing.

Rihanna has never played at Worthy Farm and has not toured since her shows from March to November 2016, totaling 75 performances. Although she has been linked with the festival for many years, there were rumors that she would headline in 2023, only to withdraw due to her pregnancy, with Guns N’ Roses stepping in as a replacement.

Speculations have persisted about her returning to both recording and touring. Last summer, she playfully addressed the prolonged wait for her ninth album, stating, “I’m reopening things and ready to go back to the studio.”

“So I’m ready now. I’ll start,” she said. “So, you know, give me a second. Yes, I start all over again, but I don’t want to neglect those songs that I have. I want to listen to things with new ears, from my new point of view, and then see what is still applicable and that I am still in love with.”

Recent performances and future plans

In November, she performed at the launch for her Fenty Beauty brand, mentioning that while “music was what attracted attention, God had other plans for me,” which led to assumptions that she may have decided to step away from music permanently.

Rihanna’s last single, “Lift Me Up,” served as the lead track for the 2022 soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She delivered a powerful rendition of the ballad at the 2023 Oscars.

She also made headlines with her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl, marking her first appearance in seven years. Shortly afterwards, she performed her first full show in eight years at a billionaire’s private wedding in India.

In other news, Rihanna’s partner, A$AP Rocky, was acquitted last week during his trial related to a shooting incident from 2021. The jury in Los Angeles found him not guilty on all charges after he was alleged to have shot his former friend, A$AP Relli. He faced up to 24 years in prison but rejected a plea deal that would have resulted in 180 days behind bars.

Following the acquittal, Rihanna expressed her gratitude, stating: “Glory belongs to God. Grateful, humbled by His mercy! 🙏🏿”

Besides Young, other confirmed acts for Glastonbury 2025 include the Sunday headlining slot “Legends,” which is reported to appear during the awards show in November.

Rumors suggest that various other artists may also perform, including Noah Kahan, who just announced a massive Cardiff show this weekend, alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Fender, The 1975, Stevie Wonder, Alanis Morissette, and Lucy Dusk.

Resale tickets are expected to go on sale in the spring, following the initial batches that quickly sold out last November when the festival implemented a new reservation queue system.
