New Album Release
The Canadian indie band is set to release their seventh album, also titled Pink Elephant, on May 9. They have already teased the record with the single “Year of the Snake.”
A selection of international cities will get to experience the album live during a series of shows starting in Mexico City on Tuesday (April 22). Following that, performances will take place in New Orleans, Charleston, Montreal, Toronto, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia, culminating in a special show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 14. Tickets for North American shows can be found here, and for the London show here from April 24.

However, on Monday (April 21), the band announced that multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry would be missing the date due to vacation plans.
In an Instagram post, the group expressed: “We congratulate our dear friend Richard Reed Parry and his wife Lorel as they prepare for the birth of their first child.”
“We’ll miss Richie on this tour (as Canadians, we’re all about radical ideas like paternity!), but we couldn’t be happier for him and his family.”
The album “Pink Elephant” is said to explore a “cinematic mystical punk” style. When originally announced, it was noted that the album would run for 42 minutes and feature 10 new songs, all recorded at Win Butler and Régine Chassagne’s own studio in New Orleans.
The lead single showcases Chassagne’s soothing vocals while introducing Butler on drums for the first time with the band. [Check it out above and visit here to pre-order a “Pink Elephant”]
Recent news surrounding new material comes after allegations of sexual misconduct against Butler, with four individuals accusing the singer of inappropriate behavior, leading to a significant impact on the band’s tours. Butler has responded to the allegations, expressing regret for anyone he may have offended, while contending that “all these interactions were consensual.”
