REM’s Michael Stipe urged individuals to boycott Facebook and Instagram due to their involvement in “helping advance the far right in America.”

The singer encouraged people to log out of all Meta-owned platforms including Threads, Whatsapp, Messenger, Giphy, Metaquest, and Rayban Meta from January 19 to 26.

“I’ll be offline for a week,” he noted in his post. “Please consider doing the same so that corporations like Meta can understand the potential consequences of aiding the far right in America and globally.”

“Or are we so addicted that we can’t log off even for a week?” he questioned.
