Support for Wildfire Relief Efforts
Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, confirmed in a communication to its members that the 2025 Grammy Awards are set for February 2nd as scheduled. According to Rolling Stone, Mason Jr. stated in an email: “We are working closely with local authorities to ensure public safety and the responsible allocation of resources in the area, and the telecast of the 67th Grammy Awards on CBS on February 2 will proceed as planned.”
Moreover, Mason Jr. announced that this year’s event will also focus on supporting wildfire relief initiatives: “This year’s ceremony will have a new purpose: to raise additional funds to aid in wildfire relief efforts and to honor the courage and commitment of first responders who risk their lives to protect others.”
On January 11, the Recording Academy and MusiCares declared that they have begun efforts to control the fires in Los Angeles, contributing $1 million to “provide immediate assistance and long-term support for individuals and families in the music industry facing displacement and loss due to the disaster.”
Universal Music Group also announced the cancellation of all planned Grammy-related parties, deciding instead to “redirect resources designated for these events to assist those impacted by the wildfires.” Following this decision, Paramore’s Hayley Williams showed her support for Universal Music by posting on Instagram: “Respect.”
