Pusha T Announces Completion of New Clipse Album: ‘Witness the Evolution of Hip-Hop and Street Hip-Hop’

Pusha T Confirms New Clipse Album

Pusha T has announced that the long-anticipated response album from Clipse is ready, stating, “You’re going to see hip-hop and street hip-hop growing up.”

Album Insights from the Interview

The rapper shared this exciting news during an interview at Saint & Citizen’s “Saint Sessions Live” event at this year’s Art Basel in Miami, Florida.

During the discussion, Pusha T mentioned: “There are no duets in rap today, and there are no lyrical hip-hop lives. You’ll see hip-hop and street hip-hop evolve.” Difficult.

He further elaborated: “It’s been 15 years since we released an album… I just think people are going to witness greatness. It’s chemistry, it’s brotherhood, and when I say that, I mean Pharrell too. He created it from top to bottom.”

Pusha T then confirmed the album’s readiness and remarked, “We take a long time, we always take a long time. People are angry, but that’s okay because it’s done. I promise you it’s done. It’s on my phone.”

Featuring Pusha and his brother Gene “No Malice” Thorton Jr., Clipse’s last album was 2009’s “Til The Casket Drops.” The duo reunited for a guest appearance on Kanye West’s 2019 album, Jesus is King, contributing to the track “Use This Gospel.”

Reflections on the New Project

Earlier this summer, Pusha discussed reforming the duo and shared insights about the new record in an interview with Vulture. “I think the album shows the ultimate maturity of the rap duo. I think this is where you’ll notice the difference between flavor and filler. This music is curated. This is a work of high taste.”

No Malice added, “This is smart basketball. These are the basics. Not only that, it’s authenticity. This is what rap should look like if you’re serious about your craft, serious about your experience, serious about your storytelling. This allows fans to see growth rather than trying to fit in or fabricate.”

The duo made their first public reunion in over a decade at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival in 2022, performing during a set titled “Pharrell and the Friends.”

In 2020, Pusha T denied rumors of an impending Clipse reunion after an unverified Instagram account claiming to be Re-Up Gang Records shared a post about the duo as children, hinting at a new album.

Pusha T’s latest solo project was 2022’s *It’s Almost Dry*, which he described as “the best rap album of the year.” In a five-star review, NME noted, “Pusha T has managed to take his art to new heights, signaling that the artist is far from finished. Even though ‘It’s Almost Dry’ is longer than ‘Daytona,’ there’s a laconic precision to it, and Pusha’s lyricism in particular is never lacking.”
