PUP Unveils New Album “Who Will Care for the Dogs?” Alongside Heartfelt New Single “Hallway”

PUP Announces New Album

PUP has revealed their upcoming album titled: “Who Will Look After The Dogs?” along with the release of a new single, “Hallways.”

The latest single from the band follows their earlier release “Paranoid,” featuring frontman Stefan Babcock lamenting the passage of time – “The first night without you/I collapsed on the floor in the living room/What the hell will I do if I never see you again?”

Babcock references the album title in the second verse – “I am losing a desire to continue to drag/but I can’t die, because who will look after the dog?”

The upcoming album, which is the fifth LP from PUP, is set to drop on May 2 through Little Dipper/Rise. This release follows their 2022 project “Unraveling the Puppy.”

Insights from Stefan Babcock

“A few days after announcing our last album, coincidentally named ‘Destruction of the Probe,’ my life took a chaotic turn. I penned the lyrics for ‘Hallways’ during that tumultuous week,” Babcock shared. “The title of this new entry ‘Who Will Look After The Dogs?’ was the very first thing I wrote for the album.”

“I think it’s destructive, but there’s an element of humor to it,” he continued. “At least when you consider the context. It’s what keeps things light for us. Those heavy thoughts we all express during dark moments can become amusing once you’ve gained some perspective. I can’t say if anyone else finds it funny, but sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. It’s the only way out of the abyss. Trust me.”

The album was crafted over the course of three weeks and produced by John Congleton (known for his work with Vincent, Lana Del Rey, and Walz). In this project, Babcock delves into personal relationships—romantic, friendships within the band, and with himself.
