PUP Unleashes Intense New Single ‘Paranoid’ and Reveals 2025 UK and European Tour Dates

PUP have unveiled their new single “Paranoid” and announced the details of their 2025 UK and European tour.

About The New Single

Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey, Wallows), the intense “Paranoid” showcases powerful drums, driving guitars, and strong vocals from frontman Stefan Babcock. In a press release, Babcock expressed his enthusiasm about the track, saying: “My favorite part of this song is the breakdown at 1:45. Whenever we try to create a heavy break with catchy vocals, we often end up sounding like the worst melodic hardcore band out there. But somehow, it worked in this song.

“I think the intensity at that point makes it quite funny and a little hard to take seriously. There’s a playful contradiction in what I’m shouting that I really enjoy. Plus, Nestor plays the melody from “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” on bass at the lowest point of the song, and each time I hear it, it drives me wild.”

Music Video and Tour Details

The music video for “Paranoid,” directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and Clem Hoehner, features the concert crowd displaying the song’s lyrics on their clothing and various items while engaging in activities like running, moshing, shopping, and more.

Discussing the collaboration, Shaulin-Rioux mentioned, “What started as an effort to center the heart-wrenching lyrics of ‘Paranoid’ has transformed into a love letter to rock band merchandise and the unsung heroes behind the merchandise table. Thanks to co-director Clem Hoehner and all the dedicated PUP fans who participated and put in so much effort to achieve a hundred takes!”

This single marks PUP’s first release in two years since their 2022 record, “Unraveling the PUPTheBand”, and their concert release “PUP Unravels Live in front of everyone they know.”

In a four-star review of the record, NME noted, “Building a career in indie music is challenging and becoming increasingly difficult. Remaining charmingly dysfunctional is just PUP’s method of rebellion: they couldn’t be a smart business investment if they tried – and they’re better off for it.”
