The annual celebration is gearing up for its 18th edition, set to occur on April 12, 2025.
Event details and excitement
Over 270 independent record stores in the UK, along with thousands worldwide, will embrace a fresh wave of vinyl releases, including unique LPs and special limited editions of previous records. As is tradition, these stores will host various parties and highlight the culture of independent record shops.
In their latest announcement for RSD 2025, organizers confirmed that Post Malone will assume the role of ambassador this year.
“What an honor, I can’t believe I’ve been chosen as the 2025 Record Store Day ambassador,” he mentioned in a new statement. “Record Store Day is very important and I really hope to do my part to keep it alive.”
“We love visiting local stores while on the road, soaking in all the amazing art; the whole vibe of the record store is incredibly inspiring. I feel at home. Walking into a store and sifting through the drawers, seeing what catches your eye is a truly special experience,” he added.
“You may start searching for something specific and end up discovering something entirely different. This is the beauty of it,” he concluded. “Keep supporting each other, let’s preserve records and bolster local stores. Happy Record Store Day to everyone!”
With this announcement, Post Malone joins the ranks of previous ambassadors like St. Vincent, Taylor Swift, Elton John, Noel Gallagher, The 1975, and Dave Grohl. Last year, Paramore and Kate Bush were the standout ambassadors.
Returning partners for RSD include rosé wine brand Studio by Miraval and British audio company Bowers & Wilkins. Additionally, Cheltenham-based DEYA Brewing Company will introduce a limited edition beverage to commemorate the day.
More information on events and activities for 2025 will be revealed soon.
Last year’s Record Store Day occurred on April 20 and included releases from artists such as The 1975, David Bowie, Daft Punk, Talking Heads, Paramore, Blur, Lily Allen, Gorillaz, Elton John, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
This announcement also comes on the heels of news that vinyl sales surged nearly 15 percent in the first nine months of 2023, despite the ongoing prevalence of streaming services.
This April, Post Malone will headline both weekends of Coachella alongside Lady Gaga and Green Day. Following his Coachella stint, he is set to launch a North American stadium tour from late April to early July, with guests Jelly Roll and singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell joining the performances. Tickets for the Post Malone Stadium Tour are available now; you can purchase yours here.
Post Malone’s latest album, F-1 Trillion, was released in August and serves as the follow-up to his fifth studio album, Austin, released in 2023. “F-1 Trillion” features collaborations with artists like Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, and Luke Combs.
