Context of the Grammy Mix-Up
This merchandise launch follows the mishap during the 2025 Grammy Awards, where SpiritBox’s Courtney LaPlante was mistakenly identified as Poppy during a red carpet interview. Both artists were nominated in the Best Metal category—LaPlante with SpiritBox for their song “Cellar Door,” and Poppy for her collaboration with Knockout titled “Supcoste.”
LaPlante’s Playful Response
When approached by an interviewer who thought she was Poppy, LaPlante humorously played along, stating: “I am Poppy, and I am very happy to be here, nominated with Knockout. I really hope that we will win.” She continued, expressing, “I hope that it’s me or SpiritBox and Courtney who takes home the award.”
Following this viral moment, Poppy released a black and white T-shirt featuring a name tag that reads “Hello, I’m Poppy.” The artist shared the announcement online with the caption, “We are all Poppy.”
