Police Delayed as Ed Sheeran Performs “Shape of You” on the Streets

Ed Shiran’s Performance in Bangalore

There was a video in which the police connected the plug of Ed Shiran while he performed on the street in Bangalore, India.

Fans took to social networks to share clips of the incident, and the singer “thought out loud” in one video, telling the crowd of hecklers: “We were going to play more than one song, but we were only allowed to play one song, so this is enough.” Later, a policeman can be seen connecting the plug and stopping the performance.

Confusion Over the Performance

It remains unclear whether the performance (on February 9) was improvised, with conflicting messages circulating on social media. Shiran is heard in one video saying: “That’s it, we had permission to do this, but this policeman shuts it down.”

Times of India reported that the officers were unaware of his presence at the scene, adding that the Cubbon Park police and Church Street Association had denied permission for the performance the day before.

Fans were not very pleased with this incident, with one stating it was “terrible and awkward,” while others found humor in the fact that the star was not recognized.

Shiran is currently on his “Mathematics” tour in 2025, having announced additional dates throughout India, Qatar, and Bahrain last year. The massive tour began back in April 2022 in Dublin, and the musician has confirmed that he will finish the European leg from May to September this year, concluding in Düsseldorf on September 7.

The incident occurred after Shiran recently announced that he has finished his next album, which is expected to see him “return to big pop.”

Earlier this year, the singer addressed rumors that he attended JK Rowling’s New Year’s party, asserting that the reports were “misleading” and urged people to “fact-check before publishing things.”
