Peter Doherty’s New Album Announcement
Peter Doherty has revealed his upcoming album “Felt Better Alive,” set to launch on May 16th through Strap Originals. This will mark Doherty’s first solo endeavor in nine years, with the title track being the debut single.
Recording and Production Insights
The album was crafted in Normandy, where Doherty currently resides, in collaboration with producer Mike Moore, who is acclaimed for his work with Baxter Dury and as a member of Liam Gallagher’s live ensemble.
Commenting on the title track, Doherty shares: “It’s quite upbeat, very country. The line ‘Dredging the Humber Estuary’ comes from Hancock. The chorus I cherish is: ‘And I always planned / To sing sweet and soulful like only cowboys can / But my saddle strap snapped like a tourniquet chewed by a dog…’ This really reflects my feelings at different points in my life. It’s like the ‘Treasure of the Sierra Madre’: embarking on a quest for gold but getting lost in the mountains while being chased by bandits.”
