The frontman of The Libertines discussed his plans for change in 2025 during a conversation with NME. He stated, “I don’t really know what you mean. I make decisions, but it’s just to continue on the path I’m on. To avoid challenging situations,” he expressed.

Reflections on Fatherhood

When asked about where he saw himself in 25 years back in the year 2000, Doherty reflected, “I now have a 20-year-old son, but I wasn’t very involved as a father. I wasn’t present in many aspects. I believe this has always been my desire—to have a close-knit family, surrounded by love, that I could connect with. I am also married and have settled down quite a bit, I suppose; perhaps I’m mistaken.”

“That’s what many people yearn for, right? A nurturing environment and a sense of home. I’m not sure I ever dared to imagine that this could be real. Back then, at the beginning of the century, 2025 felt incredibly distant.”

Future Plans and Music

During the interview, Doherty mentioned the possibility of a Babyshambles reunion next year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Down In Albion. “It’s a possibility,” he said to NME. “We’ll regroup, get into a room with our instruments, play the old hits, and then perform on stage. But the specifics of ‘who’ and ‘when’ need to be addressed. We’ll keep that in mind for next year. Before that, I have a new collection of songs being released on my label, which I’m excited about.”

When asked about the prospect of another Babyshambles record, he responded, “I have no idea. I recently composed a new song that I believe would fit well with ‘Shambles.’ Who knows? It’s quite a while away; we’re looking at next fall. So, we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Additionally, The Libertines released a new album this year, All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade, marking their first release in nearly a decade and their first chart-topping album in 20 years. They will also be touring throughout 2025, with a performance scheduled at London’s Gunnersbury Park on Saturday, 9 August. Visit here for tickets and more information.
