Recent Performances and Future Plans

The band has remained mostly inactive since 2014 due to The Libertines’ reformation. However, during Pete Doherty’s solo concert in Northampton in August, he shared the stage for the first time in a decade with bassist Drew McConnell and drummer Adam Ficek. Sources from NME reported that guitarist Mick Whitnall was also present before the show but couldn’t stay for the performance.

The band played a rendition of The Libertines’ “Don’t Look Back Into The Sun,” followed by fan favorites like “Baddie’s Boogie,” “Back From The Dead,” and “Albion,” finishing with “Time For Heroes” and “Killamangiro.”

After the show, Ficek hinted at a possible reunion. “4 out of 5 is not bad…wait…” he tweeted.

Doherty shared his thoughts: “It’s possible,” he told NME. “We’ll get back together, get in a room with instruments, play the old songs, and then go on stage for it,” he said. “But it’s the ‘who’ and ‘when’ that need to be sorted out. I think we’ll leave this issue on the horizon and tackle it next year. Before that, I’m releasing a new collection of songs on my label, which is shaping up well.”

When asked about making another Babyshambles record, he replied: “I have no idea. I wrote a new song the other day that I think would really fit with ‘Shambles.’ Who knows? It’s still quite a way off. It will be next fall, so we’ll see.”

NME spoke to Doherty about the possibility of a reunion earlier this year. He mentioned the potential for new material and performances: “The thing is, we had so many songs that we never got around to recording. There’s one called ‘Ocean,’ which is now titled ‘Stad Ocean,’ and it’s on the solo album.

“But yeah, it was just a matter of who would do what since there were several Babyshambles lineups, all of which were fantastic. Ideally, we would have Pat (Walde, guitarist) and Mick (Whitnall, guitarist) play, and maybe include Gemma (Clark) and Adam (Ficek) on drums.”

Babyshambles’ Legacy and Libertines Tour

Formed in 2003, Babyshambles have released three albums together: Down In Albion (2005), Shotter’s Nation (2007), and Sequel To The Prequel (2013).
