Paul Simon’s Upcoming Tour

Paul Simon has announced a major tour across North America for 2025, marking seven years since he stepped away from live performances.

The iconic singer-songwriter will embark on a series of shows throughout the continent, kicking off at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans on April 4. Notable stops include five performances at the Beacon Theatre in New York and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, concluding at the Benaroya Hall in Seattle on August 3.

Reflecting on His Journey

Simon previously announced what was thought to be his final concert in September 2018 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York. “I often wondered what it meant to conclude my career naturally,” he remarked at that time. “Now I understand: it feels somewhat alarming, touching, and also a relief.”

Last year, Simon revealed that he had been diagnosed with hearing loss while working on his 2023 album, “Seven Psalms,” describing the experience as “incredibly disappointing.”

In 2023, he mentioned Time that he had lost “most of the hearing in my left ear,” occurring “quite suddenly.” “There’s no explanation,” he explained, “which complicates everything.”

Despite this, Simon remains optimistic about returning to the stage, expressing a desire to ultimately perform a full concert.

Simon made a surprise return to the stage during the last weekend by joining Saturday Night Live.

While introducing the performance, Simon shared with the audience, “I sang this song with George Harrison on Saturday Night Live back in 1976,” to which the host replied: “I wasn’t born yet. Neither were my parents.”

At the end of 2024, Simon’s former partner Art Garfunkel spoke to NME about their recent reunion, which wrapped up a year filled with “sweet sincerity.”
