In other recent news, McCartney paid tribute to the late “beautiful, sweet” Marianne Faithfull, who passed away on January 30.
He shared a black-and-white photograph of them together on his official Instagram account, saying, “What very sad news that Marianne Faithfull has died. She entered my life in the sixties and was a beautiful sweet 17-year-old who radiated innocent joy. Over the years, I have been fortunate to know her and call her a lifelong friend.”
“It is incredibly sad to think I will not see her again, but my memories of our time together will always bring me joy. God bless you, Marianne, and guide you in the next stage of your journey – Paul.”
McCartney also voiced his concerns regarding proposed changes to copyright laws, warning that these could enable AI to exploit artists and lead to a “loss of creativity.”
“As kids in Liverpool, we found a job we loved, which also paid the bills,” he expressed in an interview with Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. “Many young people come along and write beautiful songs, but they don’t have ownership of them, and anyone can just take them away.”
“The fact is, money is being made elsewhere… someone is getting paid, so why not the person who wrote ‘Yesterday’?”
