Pamela Anderson Reflects on Being Assaulted on a Plane After Being Confused for a Dixie Chicks Member

Pamela Anderson recounted a harrowing experience on a plane where she was assaulted after being mistaken for a member of the Dixie Chicks.

Details of the Attack

The actress shared this memory during a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, which aired on January 6. She described how a man, mistaking her for a musician, confronted her mid-flight.

“I was flying one day and this guy came up to me and said, 'Do you know what this country has done for you?' – she recalls. “I thought, ‘Oh my God. What have I done?”

Anderson noted that the man kept fixating on her throughout the journey before he ultimately stood up and attempted to attack her physically. Thankfully, a flight attendant intervened swiftly.

“(He) thought I was Dixie Chick… Remember that whole Dixie Chick thing? I almost got killed on the plane,” she added.

While Anderson does not recall the exact date of this incident, the “whole Dixie Chick thing” she mentioned refers to the backlash the group endured in 2003, following lead singer Natalie Maines’ public criticism of President George W. Bush regarding the US Invasion of Iraq.

Anderson later revealed that the experience left her “a little afraid of flying.”

The Chicks Name Change

In 2020, the American trio changed their name to The Chicks and announced the decision in a brief statement on their website, explaining that the name change was prompted by potentially racist connotations.

Along with the name change, the band released the single “March, March,” a protest song included in their album Gaslighter.

Meanwhile, Pamela Anderson has recently made her return to film, starring in Gia Coppola’s drama, The Last Dancer, which has received positive reviews from critics.

“I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,” Anderson stated at the Princess of Wales Theater after the premiere. “First of all, this is my first time reading a good script. I never had a coherent script come to me. I thought, ‘I'm the only one who can do this.’ I’ve never felt so strongly about anything.”
