Upcoming Album Details

Following the release of singles “Cupid’s Bow,” “Polari,” and “Archangel,” “When We Kiss” marks the fourth track from Alexander’s forthcoming album “Polari,” which is set to be released on February 7th (pre-order/pre-save) here.

Co-produced by Danny L. Harle (Charlie XCX, Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek), Polari draws inspiration from electro-pop’s early pioneers to explore themes of desire, voyeurism, and destiny, making it Alexander’s first album since he moved away from the moniker Years & Years.

Describing this latest track, the former Eurovision contestant stated it is an “epic love song” motivated by “that challenging moment in a relationship when you’re uncertain about whether to break up or stay together forever.”

He shared: “I wanted this song to encapsulate those conflicting emotions, capturing all the pain and ecstasy of loving someone. I believe that heartbreak and synths are a perfect match, and I had a fantastic time collaborating with my Polari partner Danny L. Harle. Our aim was to take the listener on an ecstatic journey of heartfelt emotions, swinging from melancholy to euphoria and back again.”

In addition to the track, Alexander released a music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo, showcasing him dancing within a haunting hexagonal structure. Check it out below.

Excitement for Upcoming Music and Tour

On the MTV EMA red carpet, Alexander discussed the upcoming record with NME, expressing his excitement about releasing more music and sharing that doing so under his own name feels “very special.”

“I’m just really grateful that I’m doing this,” Alexander added. “Everything went pretty well. I don’t know; I never know, but the fans have been exceptionally kind. The creation of ‘Polari’ was heavily inspired by the music from the 80s, including artists like Erasure, The Pet Shop Boys, and Kate Bush. I hope the music from Polari finds its rightful place in this world.”
