OK Go Returns with New Single (and Video) “A Stone Only Rolls Downhill.”

New single release

OK, Go has unveiled a new single titled “The Stone Only Rolls Downhill”, marking their first new material in over a decade.

Upcoming music video and album

The track will debut alongside a music video on The Kelly Clarkson Show, serving as a sneak peek of their forthcoming fifth studio album, “And the Neighboring Possible”, which is set to release at the end of this year.

“It’s challenging to maintain optimism during these times. Living requires a degree of faith, akin to MLK’s well-known quote: ‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice,’” explains lead singer Damian Kulash. “Observing the world as it unfolds, especially for my children, makes that faith hard to grasp. What will we convey to them? That’s the essence of this song: striving for honesty while also holding onto hope.”

The video features a mosaic of 64 videos displayed on individual phones. “Balancing angst (the harsh reality) with hope (an essential aspect) often feels like living in a split-screen world, which inspired the video,” Kulash elaborates. “This represents the most human, homemade interpretation of a split screen we could create. Instead of using digital techniques to combine multiple videos, we filmed one video for each of the several dozen phones and arranged them side by side like a mosaic of screens. Out of all these distinct parts, sometimes in harmony and sometimes in tension, a singular image takes shape—many contradictory facets of ourselves aspiring to unify into one whole.”
