O.G. Mako’s Condition Update
Trap rap pioneer O.G. Mako is in a “critical but stable condition” following an alleged suicide attempt, as confirmed by his family.
On the weekend (December 13), it was reported that O.G. Mako was hospitalized due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His family took to social media on December 16 to provide an update regarding his condition.
His family shared: “We want to inform O.G.’s fans, friends, and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition. “He is receiving the best possible care and we remain hopeful as he continues to fight.”
Clarification on Health Updates
They later added in a statement: “Please note that all official news regarding O.G. Mako’s health will be coming directly from his official social media accounts. This will be the only reliable source of information.”
This clarification followed misleading reports from Say Cheese claiming that the rapper had died from his injuries.

Initial news of the incident surfaced on December 14. UpRoxx reported that O.G. Mako was hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound to the head earlier that week. Additional reports from iHeartRadio suggested it was a failed suicide attempt, with a neighbor calling authorities after hearing the shot.
Discussing the situation with AllHip-Hop on Thursday (December 12), OG Mako’s manager Poppa Pepper confirmed that the rapper shot himself in the head but survived. This statement arose after rumors of Mako’s death began circulating, prompting Three 6 Mafia DJ Paul to post a eulogy on social media, which was later deleted after Poppa Pepper’s confirmation to AllHip-Hop.
