O.G. Mako’s passing
It has been reported that O.G. Mako passed away last night (December 26) at the age of 32. TMZ reports.
The rapper had been hospitalized for several weeks due to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. On December 16, his family revealed that he was in “critical but stable condition” following an alleged suicide attempt.
Sources for TMZ indicated that Mako was in a coma and that his health subsequently declined. Doctors reportedly faced difficulties conducting adequate brain scans to detoxify the rapper’s system. He passed away in a Los Angeles hospital, surrounded by family.
Mako’s family has yet to comment on the matter.
Mako’s struggles and achievements
In 2016, Mako was involved in a car accident that left him without his right eye. In 2019, he was diagnosed with a flesh-eating disease, which resulted in scars on his face and body.
Known as a pioneer of trap rap, Mako has been part of the music scene since 2011, releasing one studio album to date, 2021’s The God Of Rage. In addition to the album, he has released over 20 EPs and mixtapes. He is perhaps most recognized for his 2014 viral hit “U Guessed It.”
In a conversation with AllHip-Hop, his manager Poppa Pepper mentioned that Mako “was about rebranding and releasing (new music) under a whole new moniker.”
