Nxdia has released a new single titled 'Boys' Clothes', delving into their gender journey and the experience of gender dysphoria.
Exploring Gender Identity
This track, which aims to evoke emotions, was released in November 2024 following Nxdia’s earlier works. During this time, the singer-songwriter from Egypt-Sudan underwent significant personal changes, which played a pivotal role in the creation of “Boys’ Clothes.”
The Vision Behind “Boys’ Clothes”
“I believe there is freedom in embracing the ‘boy-house’ that I relate to and strive to convey,” shares Nxdia. “Sitting with legs spread, stretching, and a sense of ease resonates with the lightness and carefree energy we often associate with masculinity and comfort. ‘Boys’ clothes’ can encompass men’s fashion, loose-fitting attire, or even a dress worn with confidence, as long as it reflects you. It’s all about exuding that hot-shit vibe without trying too hard — being cool, yet authentic. Growing up, I yearned to share the same experiences as my male peers, and it felt absurd that this desire could be deemed inappropriate. The term ‘boys’ clothes’ may seem silly, but we all know what it conveys, especially regarding comfort and empowerment.”
The release is complemented by a music video that features a series of vignettes highlighting the track’s themes. Nxdia will perform “Boys’ Clothes” alongside other songs at the upcoming show at Camden Assembly.
