The track, penned by Sayirus Bryson’s brother, marks the first time she has collaborated with an indie group. Through a distinctly melancholic piano backdrop, “Do Not Put Everything on Me” features Sayrus’s country and pop roots as she delves into themes of “longing and reconnecting,” as mentioned in the press release. “The Holy Spirit, whom he knows only/just as you are ready to say,” the duet is harmonized in the preliminary choir.

Discussing the production, Cyrus remarked: “I have always been an observer in our family, and Bryson wrote about how I tend to carry this weight on my shoulders.”

The press release hints at “more exciting news regarding new music from Cyrus,” who aims to “offer fans a sense of comforting, peaceful nostalgia.”

“This is what I feel deeply when I listen to music. We all yearn to connect with our past while also acknowledging the present moment. Music does this for me, and this new collection of songs was created with that in mind,” she explains. “I want to evoke the feeling of a comforting friend through music – a song that can help us all heal.”

Her debut album, “The Series Part,” was released in 2022 and was followed by the collaborative EP “People Don’t Change” with PJ Harding in April 2021. The EP received a four-star review from NME with reviewer Riana Daily calling it “a magnificent leap forward in the ever-evolving story of her youth.”
