These New Puritans Announce New Album
These New Puritans tease their fifth album 'Crooked Wing', set to be released through Domino on May 23, along with a new single 'Season in Hell' and an extensive tour across the UK and Europe.
Single Release and Collaboration
The single arrives with a video directed by Harley Weir, featuring Alexander Skarsgard in the lead role. Jack Barnett shares insights about the creation of the track: âThe song includes two trumpets, two sopranos, and two hundred drums. As I wrote it, vivid images of a vast, inhuman mechanism flooded my mindâenormous chains, pulleys, crushing gears, and molten iron.â
George Barnett discusses the video collaboration: âIt was incredible to bring together Alexander Skarsgard and Harley Weir. They are both long-time friends of mine, especially Harley, who I’ve known since adolescence; we share foundational principles and ideas in our work. She transforms the familiar into the strange and vice versa.â
âCrooked Wingâ marks the first release from Brothers Essex in six years, produced by Jack Barnett and Graham Sutton, with George Barnett serving as executive producer. The album features guest performances from Caroline Polachek and jazz double bassist Chris Lawrence.
