Name Change Announcement
Newiean has revealed that they are rebranding as NJZ following their exit from the former ADOR label.
Background and Legal Challenges
The K-POP group made this decision after parting ways with ADOR, a subsidiary of the South Korean Hybe label, at the end of last year. This separation arose amidst allegations of misconduct and inadequate management. The group, which has been active for five years, acknowledged that they may have to withdraw from the name New Jaines.
In light of these changes, Hannie stated that NJZ is dedicated to “transforming this challenging period into something more exhilarating.” The group is set to debut under their new name at Complexcon Hong Kong.
The situation remains intricate as Ador has filed a lawsuit asserting that the group is still bound by an exclusive contract, seeking a court order to prevent NJZ from moving forward.
Hannie explained, “We are working hard to resolve everything so that we can … return to normalcy,” emphasizing that NJZ does not wish for the legal disputes “to overshadow our career.”
Ador responded to the name change in a statement, expressing, “Despite the ongoing trial concerning the exclusive contract between Ador and the New -Diai members, we deeply regret that the members made this choice unilaterally.” The label further stated that they are committed to protecting the brand value of New Junits and are ready to meet with either the members or their legal representatives at any time to address misunderstandings and discuss future group activities.
The conflict has its roots in corporate tensions between Hybe and the former CEO of Ador, Min Hee-Jin, who played a crucial role in the group’s formation. Following her dismissal, Hi-jin NJZ sought reinstatement before confirming her departure from Ador in November.
Daniel from the group expressed confidence, stating that they believe “they will win this battle against Hybe and Ador.”
