Neil Young Announces Free Concert in Ukraine

Neil Young has revealed plans to hold a free concert in Ukraine just before his upcoming European summer tour.

Summer Tour Plans

This summer, the Canadian singer-songwriter is set to embark on his worldwide “Love Earth” tour alongside Chrome Hearts. He will perform at the Glastonbury festival at the end of June before heading out.

In an exciting announcement, Young plans to hold a free concert in Ukraine, marking his first performance in the country.

“Currently, we are negotiating and will make an announcement here in (the archive of the Nile Yang),” wrote Young on his official website. The field reads “Hold on the rock in the free world.”

Details regarding the date and location of this concert remain unclear, but the European tour kicks off on June 18 in Dalhalla, Ratwick, Sweden. Following that, Young and his team will travel across Europe with stops in Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. A complete list of dates and tickets can be found here.

This announcement follows a significant meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday (February 28).

The two leaders met in Washington, D.C., to discuss a potential agreement on minerals and defense. However, the summit was disrupted after U.S. Vice President JD Vance interjected, during which Trump claimed that Zelensky was not “ready for peace” and accused him of “gambling with the Third World War.”

Since the meeting, personalities like Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have expressed strong solidarity with Zelensky during the European leaders’ summit in London (March 2), which aimed to discuss support for Ukraine.

Responses from the entertainment world to the extraordinary events have been pouring in, with Jack White calling Zelensky “a very courageous person deserving of support for peace. He has taken on the struggle of his people and his country with great honor.”

Meanwhile, Rod Stewart has also voiced his support, emphasizing that “we must continue to aid Ukrainians.”

Young has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine since the onset of the Russian invasions in 2022 and has been highly critical of Trump. He previously filed a lawsuit against Trump in 2020 for copyright infringement regarding the unauthorized use of his song “Rockin’ in the Free World,” and has publicly condemned such unauthorized use through various open letters on his website.
