Neil Young’s Decision
Neil Young has declined to perform at Glastonbury 2025, expressing his concerns regarding the increasing corporate involvement in the festival.
Concerns Over Corporate Control
On his Neil Young Archives Website, Young stated: “The Chrome Hearts and I were excited to play Glastonbury, one of my favorite outdoor performances. However, we learned that the BBC has become a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do many things that didn’t align with our interests.”
“Glastonbury appears to be under corporate control now, which is not how I remember it,” he added. “Thank you for the memories, but this will be the last time!”
No Performance This Tour
“We will not be performing at Glastonbury during this tour due to it being a corporate shutdown, which doesn’t resonate with me like it used to. I hope to see you at another location on the tour,” he concluded.
Young previously headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2009, after initially being scheduled to perform in 1997 but had to withdraw due to an injury. Rod Stewart has been confirmed for the Sunday afternoon Legends Slot, with Nile Rodgers and Chick also set to grace the Somerset festival.
The festival returns to Worthy Farm in Pilton starting June 25, with tickets selling out in just 32 minutes when they were released in November.
