Hallwood Media partners with 9th St. Records

Hallwood Media’s Neil Jacobson has signed a joint venture with 9th St. Records, whose roster includes artists like Rich Amiri, Osamason, Lil Shain, and others.

Founded in 2020 by Nisim Herchovits and Harry Jenko in their college dorm room, 9th St. Records has achieved over 1.5 billion streams across various DSPs in the past 12 months.

Rich Amiri’s 2023 single One Call (Internet Money/10 Thousand Projects) has garnered 424 million streams on Spotify alone.

Neil Jacobson, a former long-time boss at Geffen Records in Los Angeles, departed from the UMG label in 2019 to establish Hallwood Media in 2020.

Since its inception, Hallwood has broadened its scope to include management, records, distribution, publishing, merchandise, and ventures.

Artist Discovery and Development

9th St. Records has also discovered and nurtured talents such as Swapa, Devstacks, and REXV2, among others.

According to a press release announcing the joint venture, “paired with complex infrastructure and Hallwood resources, the company provides a comprehensive set of services encompassing all aspects of an artist’s career.”

Hallwood Media began as a producers’ management division under Geffen Records in 2013, with Jacobson launching the independent unit in 2020 upon his departure from the company.

Jacobson is recognized for representing notable producers and songwriters, including Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Harry Styles), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Eminem), and Brendan O’Brien (Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam).

The firm successfully acquired a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) called Music Acquisition Corporation (TMAC), which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in February 2022 under the ticker symbol TMAC.U, raising $230 million in the process. The SPAC filed for liquidation in early October 2022.
