Nandi Bushell Releases Enchanting New Single “The Only” with Her New Band Blu Reflection

New Music From Nandy Bushel

Nandy Bushel shared her debut single with her new group, Blu Reflection, under the title “The Only”.

Rise to Fame

The 14-year-old artist gained recognition by performing viral drum covers. She started playing the drums at the age of five, and in 2020, she skyrocketed to fame after a series of online battles with Devy Golel of Foo Fighters—Grohl himself acknowledged her talent in November of that year.

Bushel performed “Learn to Fly” at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute concert following Hawkins’ tragic passing at 50 years old in 2022, using a pair of drumsticks that he gifted her. Last year, she also wowed the audience at the Download Festival, performing “Power to the People” by John Lennon alongside Tom Morello.

Now, Bushel has made her official debut with her new group, where she showcases her skills on drums and vocals. The lineup includes Sebbie Joel on guitar and Kea Emina on bass.

Blu Reflection has released several songs last year, but this marks their first venture into producing original music. The new track is a dreamy alt-pop anthem featuring the lyrics “Maybe I’m the only one/ it’s like this/ maybe you are the only/ who hurts like me.”

Past Works and Inspirations

Previously, Bushel released original songs as a solo artist, including “Shadows,” “Gods and Unicorn,” and “Into the Abyss.” In January, she honored Karen Carpenter with a cover of the iconic “Dancing on the Street.”

Carpenter, as many know, was an accomplished musician who played both drums and sang for a live studio audience on Your Exhibition of All American Colleges in 1968 when she was just 16 years old—two years older than Bushel now.

“I have so much love and respect for Karen Carpenter!” Bushel shared on X/Twitter. “She was an incredible drummer, singer, and songwriter. An absolute legend! This video clip was sent to me more than any other, so I felt it was only fitting to pay tribute with my own solo.”
