Cartwright, recognized for her iconic voice work on The Simpsons, reflected on the notable achievements of her niece during a recent interview. She confidently predicts that Carpenter will receive Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys in the near future.
Carpenter’s Rising Fame
This discussion took place during her appearance on Good Morning America on Monday (December 16), just a day prior to the special holiday premiere of The Simpsons in 2024.
During the conversation, Cartwright, who voices several characters on the series including Bart Simpson and Ralph Wiggum, reminisced about how Carpenter “knew at age six that she wanted to work for Disney.”
“This was her dream when she was six years old!” she exclaimed when discussing Carpenter’s imminent success in 2024 (via Billboard). “She just forged her own path.”
While Carpenter reached new heights this year with her acclaimed album “Short N’ Sweet” and her world tour, she initially made her mark in the entertainment industry back in 2014 with a significant role on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World.
Future Prospects and Achievements
Reflecting on Carpenter’s journey in music and acting, Cartwright believes her niece is poised for even greater accomplishments: “I wouldn’t be surprised if she became an EGOT one day.”
Only time will reveal if Carpenter can secure an Emmy, Oscar, and Tony, but her Grammy prospects look promising. The nominations for the 2025 film awards were announced last month, revealing that the “Espresso” star garnered awards in six categories.
These achievements included Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso,” along with Song of the Year for “Please Please Please,” Album of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Short N’ Sweet.”
Additionally, Carpenter has been recognized as the sole 2024 artist with two songs in Spotify’s Wrapped Top 10, with “Espresso” taking the number two spot and “Please Please Please” at ninth.
Moreover, “Short N’ Sweet” has become the second best-selling album in the UK this year, just behind Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.” Carpenter also featured some impressive surprise guests during her performance from her Netflix Christmas special.
Furthermore, her song “Bed Chem” has recently been named one of NME’s best songs of 2024, and she’s set to embark on the “Short N’ Sweet” tour across the UK in 2025. Dates include a headline show at BST Hyde Park next summer. Click here for tickets.
In related news about Nancy Cartwright, it has been recently reported that her The Simpsons co-star, Pamela Hayden, will be retiring. Hayden has voiced Milhouse and other characters on the show for almost 700 episodes since it debuted in 1989.
The current 36th season of the show recently kicked off with a faux “series finale” featuring the return of Conan O’Brien. The series has yet to be renewed for a 37th season, leaving fans speculating about the future of the animated classic.
