MTV Unveils “Eric Clapton Disabled” Release Over 30 Years Later

MTV Announces New Eric Clapton Special

MTV has unveiled a new special featuring Eric Clapton, titled Eric Clapton is disabled … more than 30 years later. Find all the details below.

Details on the Clapton Episode

The Clapton episode, MTV is disabled, was filmed at Bray Studios in Windsor, Berkshire, back in 1992. Following this, he released a live album from the Unplugged session, which has sold over 26 million copies and has become the best-selling live album of all time.

A completely new expanded, remixed, and remastered edition of the cult session, Eric Clapton is disabled … more than 30 years later, will be available for global streaming on Paramount+ starting February 12.

This edition will feature exclusive content from Clapton, where he shares insights into the inspiration behind specific songs and his performances with the team shortly before going on stage, all seamlessly integrated with the performance footage.

During this intimate performance, Clapton revisited his catalog, presenting fresh acoustic interpretations of hits like “Layla” and “Tears in Heaven.” The singer-songwriter also paid homage to the blues music that has influenced him, performing classics such as “Before You Accuse Me” (originally recorded by Bo Diddley) and “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out” (Bessie Smith).

Upcoming Concerts and More

Eric Clapton is scheduled to go on tour in the UK this May to support his 22nd and final album, “Meanwhile.” He will perform three shows at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London and will also appear at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

These upcoming dates will be Clapton’s only British concerts in 2025, with his Nottingham stop marking his first visit to the city since 2008.

In other news, a draft copy of the famous letter written by John Lennon in 1971 to Clapton, suggesting they form a new group, has recently been auctioned off.

Last year, Clapton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the third time. He humorously referred to this honor as the “Frat Boys club” that he accidentally got lured into, explaining, “This is not a place for rebels. This is a material for the establishment.”
