Incident Details
Morgan Wallen has entered a guilty plea to a lesser charge related to an incident in Nashville where he threw a chair from a rooftop bar.
In April, reports emerged that the singer faced three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct after throwing a chair from the roof of a Tennessee bar.
The event unfolded just three days after Wallen launched his North American “One Night At A Time” tour in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to the arrest documentation, multiple police officers were stationed outside Chief’s Bar on Broadway when a chair struck the ground nearby.
Witnesses at the scene claimed that Wallen had tossed the chair from the sixth floor. The report also indicated that law enforcement had reviewed video footage showing the artist “jumping and throwing an object over the roof.”
Public Statement
Wallen later addressed the incident on social media, stating that he “didn’t feel right to publicly check in on the situation until I had made peace with some people.” He acknowledged, “I have been in contact with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s,” expressing that he was not proud of his actions and accepted responsibility.
“I have the utmost respect for the officers who work every day to keep us safe,” he added. “As for my tour, there will be no changes.”
Legal Outcomes
On December 12, the charges against the “Whiskey Glasses” singer were downgraded from misdemeanors to two counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon.
According to Rolling Stone, each count carries a maximum punishment of 11 months and 29 days in jail, along with a $500 fine. However, the judge accepted the plea deal, sentencing Wallen to two years of probation, which includes “seven days in a drunk driving education program,” followed by “supervised probation” for two years.
As a first-time offender, if Wallen adheres to the probation requirements, he will have the opportunity to have the misdemeanor charges “wiped” from his record in due course.
Earlier this year, the musician contributed $500,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Helen relief efforts.
