Event Details

A multi-day event at Crystal Palace in South London is set for August 14, featuring performances by Chali 2na, Zero 7, and DJ Cheeba from Jurassic 5. Tickets will be available for purchase at 10 a.m. on April 4, and you can secure your own here.

Based on prior announcements, other acts include Mogwai and Lankum on August 7, Big Smoke and Skepta on August 9, the Jaxx basement on August 22 and 23, and Neil Rogers and Shik on August 24.

Artist Highlights

Morcheeba, represented by Sky Edwards and Ross Godfrey, were significant figures in the 90s Trip-Hop scene with albums like Big Calm and “Who Can You Trust?” They last released an album titled Blackest Blue in 2021, and in January, they celebrated their 30th anniversary with the single “Call For Love.”

Unkle, led by musician and producer James Lavelle, will present the Rōnin Live show in the south as he travels to the UK in 2024.

“With the round of Rōnin, Unkle Live Experience is reimagined within a club context, rather than a traditional live show,” Lavelle explained last year. “This approach allows us to be creative and experimental in various ways.”

“The Rōnin show is layered, curated, and designed to create a seamless Unkle soundtrack experience, drawing influences from the past, present, and future of Unkle. Originally a DJ-based performance, we aimed to expand the boundaries of what DJing could be at that time by incorporating visual elements with the music. We want audiences to dance, celebrate, and truly enjoy the experience.”

Meanwhile, DJ Shadow has voiced concerns about a crisis facing touring musicians, stating that the industry is nearing “extinction.”

“Many venues I performed at this year are financially struggling,” he remarked. “I believe it’s not an exaggeration to say that the touring industry is on the brink of extinction as we know it.”
