Moonlandingz Collaborate with Iggy Pop on New Emotional Single “This Is Where I Come From”

New Song Release Featuring Iggy Pop

Today (April 22), I returned with an emotional new song featuring Iggy Pop titled “This is Where I Came From” – check it out below.

In March, Adrian Flanagan and the Fat White Family, which includes Saul Adamchevsky and Lias Kaci, released their first full-length effort, “Interplanetary Cool Classics,” in March 2017.

The group followed up at the beginning of this year with the new single “Human Sign” – nearly eight years after their debut album. This was soon followed by “Roustabout,” which featured Nadine Shah.

All three singles will be included on their upcoming album “No Rocket,” set to release this Friday, April 25, through Transgressive Records. You can pre-order your copy here.

Background of the New Track

The statement reveals that the new track was written by Flanagan 15 years ago after he broke both hands in a bicycle accident. “Doctors told him he might never use his hands again,” the statement continued. Undeterred, Flanagan went to his home studio to “decant the haze of morphine,” despite trying to “write songs using one finger and thumb on Mellotron, MIDI Clavichord, and drum machine.”

Flanagan shared about the track: “This is Where I Came From was the very first song I wrote after the accident. I think I found a sweet spot between Johnny Cash, who embodies ‘hurt,’ and a bit of Scott Walker’s ‘Scott 2.’”

“I worked on other projects, and ultimately the track was pushed back into the back of the cabinet for over a decade. During the final days of recording the Moonlandz album, I rediscovered a collection of beautiful songs, and I brought a rough demo to the session.”

“I urged my friend Oliver Harrap to put live drums on it, Alex White added beautiful saxophone and flute, and I laid down a new guide with the intention of letting someone else perform it before I completely re-recorded my original demos with my producer, Co Dean Honer.”

Speaking about collaborating with Iggy Pop, Flanagan said: “My absolute first choice to sing my song was Iggy Pop. No sweaty young upstart could sing this and make you believe it.”

“I needed someone who had lived a thousand lives, understood mortality, loss, and whose voice exuded wisdom. It felt like some sort of mental magic when Iggy said ‘yes,’ proving that something created during immense personal struggle and pain can still find an extraordinary life in the modern-day ballad scene!”

The accompanying music video showcases the group’s collaboration with Gini Crystal once again. She commented on the project, stating: “This concludes a three-part series about male vulnerability, sexuality, uncertainty, ego, and the absurd difficulties of labeling a person.”

The new album features contributions from Iggy Pop, Shah, Jessica Winter, and Iggy’s collaborator, actor Ewen Bremner. The Moonlandingz recently returned for a concert in Lexington, North London, in February. Last September, they performed at a garage in London to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Transgressive Records, marking their first show in almost seven years.

The group also announced a performance at RockAway Beach 2026 alongside Public Image Ltd. and Dry Cleaning. The Winter Festival will return to Butlin’s in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, from January 2 to January 4, 2026. Tickets for all festival packages are available here.

In other news, Fat White Family supported Primal Scream in London this April, and their fourth and latest album “Forgiving You” was released last spring.
