MJ Lenderman announced that he will no longer tour with Wednesday.

“She left you”, which was removed, found Lenderman joining Wednesday in 2020 alongside Karly Hartzman, who initially started the group as a solo venture in 2017. Since then, they have put out three albums, the most recent being released in 2023.

However, Lenderman has revealed that his time on the road with the band has concluded. In a recent interview with GQ, he stated that the performance on January 4 at the Rockin’ on Sonic festival in Japan would be his last with them.

“With each new phase of my career or any increase in visibility, I find I have to make new adjustments to safeguard what I’m doing,” Lenderman shared.

He elaborated on how his collaboration with Hartzman and demanding touring schedules influenced his decision. “It brings me some comfort to see where the horizon lies, to know when the tour is over,” he explained. “Before I chose to step back from Wednesday, it felt like a never-ending question. That made me extremely anxious.”

In addition, Lenderman mentioned that he would continue to make music with Wednesday, revealing that a new member named Jake would take his place for live performances.

Lenderman and Hartzman both celebrated Crows Crows’ “Long December” at separate shows in December, with each joined by different guest musicians.

Lenderman’s fourth solo LP, ‘Manning FireWorks’, was released in September and earned a spot on NME‘s list of the 50 best albums of 2024. The track “She Leaves with You” was also included in NME’s top 50 songs of 2024.
