Millie Bobby Brown confirmed her desire to portray Britney Spears but noted that this is not her story.

Brown’s Connection to Spears

Brown, who also admired the great glory in childhood, continued: “I think that her story, first of all, resonates with me. I just grew up in a public eye, I watch her videos, watch interviews about how she was when she was younger.”

She added: “I feel that I can tell her story correctly – and only her.”

Nevertheless, Spears quickly knocked down this idea. “I heard about people who want to make films about my life … Dude, I’m not dead!!!” the singer wrote.

During a new interview with Access to Hollywood, Brown revisited the idea of taking on the role of a “toxic” star.

“I mean, it is an absolute icon. I wouldn’t want anything but to be part of her story,” she said. “But this is her story, and I fully support her in bringing her story to life as she wants.”

Last summer, Universal Pictures announced that Spears’ bestselling book A Woman in Me will serve as the basis for a new biographical film about the pop star, with John M. Chu (Wicked, In the Heights, Crazy Rich Asians) attached as director.

Chu later teased that he had an “initial concept” of the story that the upcoming film will tell. “I think this is a lot about how we relate to people, young stars that we think we own, women, mothers,” he said.

The director added: “I can’t talk a lot about the history of Britney, except that I have been a fan of hers for many years. She represents a generation of people growing up in the 2000s and late 90s, and she has a story that deserves to be correctly told. There is a lot in us.”

In September 2024, Spears caused confusion when she implied that the “secret project” she was working on with Chu was not a biographical film about her life but rather “a fictional musical.”

A Woman in Me sold over a million copies worldwide in the first week of its release.

The book contains numerous revelations in its frank discussion of Spears’ career, relationships, 13-year conservatorship, and personal life. One of the most significant was that she had an abortion during her relationship with Justin Timberlake from 1998 to 2002, as they believed they “were not ready to have a child in our life” and were “too young.”

The disputed conservatorship of Spears was terminated in November 2021. Her father, Jamie, was removed from his position as her conservator earlier that same year.

In 2022, Millie Bobby Brown expressed her willingness to portray Halsey in a biographical film after the singer suggested that she would be “so great” for the role.

Meanwhile, Stranger Things fans received a first look at the fifth and final season last year. The show marked halfway production during the summer before completing its last run of episodes in December.
