Mikaela Jav, Millionaire DJ and Azerbaijani President’s Cousin, Arrested for Drug Dealing at Greek Party

Millionaire DJ Arrested in Greece

Millionaire DJ Michaela Yav was arrested at a party in Greece on drug trafficking charges.

The London-based DJ, whose real name is Izzat Khanim Javadova and is a cousin of the Azerbaijani president, was arrested on December 30 in the town of Kalyvia Toriku, situated near Athens. According to Mixmag, Javadova was taken into custody during a party at a luxurious villa, where police reportedly discovered 45 wraps of cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, and other drugs, along with a safe containing over €43,000 (£35,000).

Details of the Arrest and Charges

Javadova was among nine individuals who appeared before a judge on January 3 and were detained on charges of aggravated drug trafficking. A total of 13 people were reportedly apprehended, including three police officers accused of unlawfully providing security and surveillance services.

Previous Legal Issues

This is not the DJ’s first encounter with legal troubles. Back in 2021, according to Times, she and her husband Suleiman Javadov surrendered £4 million to British authorities due to the funds’ alleged connections to a £2.1 billion money laundering scheme known as the Azerbaijan Laundromat.

In an interview with Greek television channel ERT, Javadova denied these allegations, stating, “I did not organize the party and did not send out online invitations… in addition, no drugs were found on me.”

She described the gathering as a “kinky techno party in Berlin, all about love and music” and claimed the accusations against her were “an attack on LGBTQ people” (according to Times).

The owner of the luxury villa where the party took place mentioned that Javadova had paid a €1,000 (£830) deposit for the venue and indicated there was significant damage to the property.

Javadova’s cousin is Azerbaijan’s autocratic leader, President Ilham Aliyev. Her late father was Azerbaijani MP Jalal Aliyev, the brother of former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev.

The DJ is said to own several extravagant properties in Azerbaijan, Ibiza, and London. In 2015, Javadova founded the dance music label Underground Records and held a residency at Space Ibiza, where she hosted her techno party ONYX.
