Metallica Unveils New Documentary
Metallica has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary, Metallica Saved My Life – you can check it out below.
About The Film
The documentary is set to screen in cities during the North American leg of the M72 world tour. The official synopsis characterizes the film as “not quite clean,” stating that it “delves into Metallica’s world as experienced through the lives of their fans.”

The trailer features testimonials from various fans expressing what the metal pioneers mean to them, highlighting stories from enduring civil struggles to the Metallica subculture in Botswana, where members describe the band’s music as “giving them the heart of a lion.”
The heartfelt trailer is accentuated by remarks from the band, with drummer Lars Ulrich stating: “Metallica – we are all together; it belongs to all of us.”
Film Director Jonas Åkerlund, a legendary music video director, previously collaborated with the band on a promotional video for their rendition of the 1999 traditional Irish song “Whiskey in the Jar.” He also directed Lady Gaga’s collaboration with Beyoncé on “Telephone” and Madonna’s “Ray of Light.”
The band shared the trailer on its official Instagram account with the following caption:
“Catch a glimpse of our upcoming film, coming soon to cities on the #M72 World Tour. Not quite finished, but we want you to be among the first to see our latest film project, directed by award-winning Jonas Åkerlund, all about the life of our fans.”
“This documentary explores our world through the lives of fans who have supported each other through triumphs, trials, and tribulations for over four decades.”
