Menstrual Cramps: Looking for a New Bassist

Menstrual Convulsions Announce Search for New Bassist

The menstrual convulsions have released a statement announcing their search for a new bassist to join the group.

Bristol Group Seeks Full-Time Bassist

The Bristol-based band shared the news yesterday (March 24) on social media, confirming their need for a full-time bassist following the departure of their current bassist, Abi. Reports indicate that the decision was mutual, as she wanted to pursue new opportunities.

“We have several big news – our bassist Abi decided to move away from the group to focus on other things. We are gutted to see her go, but we are grateful for all the amazing times we had together. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” the post began.

“Nevertheless, we are not slowing down! We have a packed year with many shows booked, and fortunately, some of our good friends will step in to cover the bass while we find a suitable person to join us full-time.”

Candidate Requirements and Upcoming Shows

Explaining what they’re looking for in candidates, the group stated: “We seek someone who is not only a bassist but is also professional, flexible, and eager to be part of something greater.”

“We take what we do seriously, but we also have a good time, and we need someone ready to jump in, perform regularly, and grow with us. If this sounds like you (or someone you know), send us a message,” they added.

“The candidate must have a passport, equipment, touring experience, and a socially conscious mindset. No discrimination (no fascists, racists, sexists, or homophobes).”

Applications for the bassist role can be submitted through their social media pages.

While they continue their search for a new bassist, the menstrual convulsions are set to perform several shows across Great Britain. This includes a performance in Bristol at the end of this week as part of the 2025 DIY Punk Fishstock, taking place on March 29.

From there, they will play at Queer Punk throughout the day in Haggerston on April 5, and at the MPF festival on April 18. Other shows include a performance at Bristol’s stock exchange on June 21 and at the Foundry in Torquay on August 29.
